Frequently Asked Questions

What times am I able to access my belongings? Our gate hours are from 7am to 9pm daily.

What is the difference between office hours and gate hours?
Office hours are the hours of operation for the facility when the Resident Manager will be available to assist you with your storage needs or moving and packing supplies. These hours vary slightly among the different Alamo Mini-Storage properties. Gate hours are the hours your code can be used to open the access-controlled gate. These hours are 7am. to 9pm every day of the year.
Do you close for any holidays? Our office is closed on the following days, but your gate access is still available: New Year's Day
Monday after Easter
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
Do your facilities have resident managers? They sure do! Resident managers are present at all our locations. They’re always happy to help.

What does “All Ground Floor Access” mean?
Some mini-storage facilities require you to go down a hallway then up some stairs or an elevator, sometimes several floors, to access your storage space. All units at any Alamo Mini-Storage facility are accessible from ground level, without having to carry your belongings up stairs or an elevator.

What is climate control?
Climate-controlled units are cooled and heated to protect your belongings from extremes in temperature and humidity. Climate-controlled units are available at most Alamo Mini-Storage locations.

What is drive-up climate control?  Alamo Mini-Storage is proud to offer large, climate-controlled units with drive-up access at several of our facilities. Our insulated door keeps the climate control in, while allowing you the most convenient access to your belongings.
What security features do you have? Our facilities are all fully fenced with gated access and also include surveillance cameras.
How do I pay my storage bill?
We offer online bill pay and autopay. We also take cash and check payments.
Do I have to bring my own key?
Feel free to bring your own lock or purchase a lock from us. Only you will have the keys to your lock.
Can I buy boxes and packing supplies?
Yes. We have boxes, tape, locks, and other packing supplies available for purchase.
What items am I not allowed to store?
Perishables, plants, animals, explosives, combustible liquids and fuels, flammable or hazardous items, stolen or illegal goods. Contact us if you have questions about a specific item.

What fees do I pay, other than monthly rent?
There is a one-time deposit, depending on the size of the unit. This deposit is refundable when you move out, as long as your rent is paid up and your unit is clean. Compare this with most storage facilities that charge you a non-refundable administration fee of $20.00 or more.

What is the difference between a drive-up and a hallway unit?
A drive-up unit has a door that opens to the outside. These are usually larger units and generally have an eight-foot wide rollup door. A hallway unit is accessible from an interior hallway. These are usually smaller units with a swing door. They have the advantage of protection from the elements as you move your belongings into your space.

Do you offer boat & RV storage?
Store your recreational vehicle, boat or car in one of our outdoor parking spaces (not available at all locations).  Enclosed storage available at our Eisenhauer Road Location in San Antonio only.

What sizes are available, and how do I know what size I need?
Please see our Unit Size Guide for some of the units we have available and suggestions on what will fit in each size.
